We take responsibility for nature and the environment

As a company, we not only have a responsibility to our employees, but also to nature. As a positive example, we want to place an even stronger focus on sustainability and resource conservation.

Even though there is still a lot of room for improvement, we monitor our processes every day and try to excel in this area. The topic of sustainability is already present on a daily basis and we are proud to obtain our electricity (almost) entirely from renewable energies, to receive our heat as district heating and that many of our Steelworkers come to work by e-bike instead of by car.

SUSTAINABLE AND CONSCIOUS

Environmentally friendly to work

We offer our steelworkers the opportunity to ride a company e-bike on the basis of the 1% scheme. This model works in such a way that an employee pays a monthly leasing rate via their employer, which reduces their gross salary subject to social security contributions and tax.

Compared to direct purchase, you can save more than 25%. The Ampler bikes weigh only 14 kilograms and the battery has a range of 80 to 90 km. Our steelworkers can charge their e-bikes free of charge at our charging station.

Less CO2 emissions thanks to district heating

We get our heating and hot water from district heating. District heating is much more environmentally friendly and produces fewer CO2 emissions.

However, it is important to consider how the heat is produced and how far it has to be transported.

We receive district heating from our immediate neighbor, who operates a wood incineration plant. Here, the waste heat is merely a by-product that is fed to us through pipes.

We always have sustainability in mind: Environmentally friendly, resource-conserving and responsible.

Harnessing the sun's energy with photovoltaics

We have a strong focus on the use of renewable energies. Our hall roofs are almost completely equipped with solar panels and generate electricity all year round.

Photovoltaics is a great way to generate electricity sustainably. The normally unused hall roofs thus fulfill an important purpose and even here in Borken we manage to generate more electricity in the summer months than we consume.
